Resolve It, Family Dispute Resolution

"Assisting families to negotiate life's journey"

Hello I am Kerry van Beest, founder of Resolve It Family Dispute Resolution.  I have a passion for relationships and communication and a deep belief that people have a basic need to be heard and understood.

I am currently registered and accredited with the Federal Attorney General's Department which means I am able to issue the Section 60I certificate under the Family Law Act.  I am also Nationally Accredited with LEADR.

Briefly, my working history saw me become a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Federal Attorney Generals Department in 2006 after having worked in the legal industry for approximately 14 years.  Initially I worked as a secretary, personal assistant and then paralegal.  In 1999 I decided to study law while work the for the law firm, Stacks The Law Firm in Port Macquarie. I graduated in 2005 from Southern Cross University with an Associate Degree in Law.

After working in the legal areas of family law, conveyancing, litigation, debt recovery, workers compensation and personal injury I asked myself the question "there must be a better way of resolving disputes than through the adversarial court systems". This led to my decision not to become a lawyer, instead I pursued the dispute resolution path.   This resulted in me leaving the Mid North Coast after 17 years and move to Sydney where I undertook training in family dispute resolution through UniFam Uniting Care and Relationships Australia.

In July 2006 I commenced work as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner at the Sutherland Family Relationship Centre, run by Interrelate Family Centres.  I continue to work at the Centre on a part-time basis.  The wealth of experience, insights into human nature, and ongoing professional development afforded to me, in this exciting groundbreaking arena, has been extraordinary.

In July 2008 I commenced Resolve It, Family Dispute Resolution.

In 2009 I completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

On a personal note, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all the people who have crossed my path during my life and influenced my journey to this point in time. Thank you for providing me with the continual opportunity to learn from you, grow personally and reinforce my passion and belief in relationships.  I look forward to the future and continuing to assist others in their journey.
